Bentley: Getting Keiki Ready For Kindergarten

Parent educator Kathy Bentley

Parents concerned about their child’s successful kindergarten experience can get some tips on it from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a free workshop at Ben Parker Elementary cafeteria.

Led by nationally recognized parent educator Kathy Bentley of Kaneohe, the program theme is “Preparing for Kindergarten: More than Academics during Critical Years of Birth to Age 5.”

The free event includes childcare, but registration is required at 235-7747.

Bentley will share the skills children need when they enter school, and how parents can share everyday activities with their children to get them ready for it.

As the owner of Kathy’s Parenting Solutions, she has led numerous workshops for schools and parent groups, and has worked with children of all ages, in addition to incarcerated parents, military families, teen parents, grandparents, foster families and those involve with Child Protective Service.

The workshop is sponsored by Windward District PCNC, a P-3 grant and Kaneohe Community Family Center (part of Parents and Children Together).
