Baby Boot Camp Offers Fitness Cure For Moms

After giving birth, new moms face a challenge getting back in the habit of hitting the gym: They want to work out, but that means finding a baby-sitter.

Here’s one solution: Bring baby along.

Baby Boot Camp Honolulu now offers mom/baby fitness classes from 8:30 to 9:20 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Koko Marina Center. Owner Lisa Harrington, who also owns Hawaiian Surf Adventures at the center, started doing Baby Boot Camp as a young mother, and she enjoyed it so much she started teaching the course.

Classes combine Prenatal, and Level 1 and 2 formats. Exercises are modified to suit each individual. Mothers and their keiki kick off their workout at Marina Courtyard with a walk (or jog), then continue with circuit training. The first class is free, then participants can pay per class or monthly.

The innovative stroller fitness program is intended to help mothers regain or enhance pre-pregnancy fitness levels and meet the physical challenges of parenting by emphasizing strength training in a supportive environment.
