Overall what did you think?

American Sniper is a must-see.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

It was hard to choose because I love movies with different themes going on, like never giving up, finishing what you’ve started, defending the weak, and the importance of family and loyalty.

Since I have to pick, it would be when the main character first visits the Navy recruitment office.

The recruitment officer suggests the SEAL program, but doubts his ability to finish the program because it is very tough.

But he says with conviction that he never gives up and there is no quitting in him, and he goes on to prove it.

On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?

★★★★.

What did you think of the cinematography?

The cinematography really made me feel the harsh conditions of life as a soldier in Iraq.

There were scenes so chilling, you will be thinking about them long after the movie ends.

Was the message/theme clear?

Yes, I think this movie’s message/theme is clear, even if I feel that there was more than one good message. I like movies with messages/themes of dedication, having mentors, loyalty and mental toughness.

Did it remind you of any other works in film?

Not specifically, just the visual of war.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

I recommend this movie as a great way for anyone to shift their perspective or get out a mental rut like: I’m so unlucky, why me?, nothing good happens to me, life sucks.

It certainly will inspire you to feel motivated to take on more in your life, challenge you to increase your mental toughness and question any comfort zone you may be stuck in.

It is crucial that fathers see this movie, to remind them of how much influence they have on their children’s lives. It will appeal to a wide range of viewers since it had action, drama, suspense and romance.

Did any of the actors stand out?

Bradley Cooper (playing Chris Kyle) is phenomenal in this film.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

I could identify with the main character because he was as passionate about his job as I am about mine.

Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?

The movie had me so drawn in that I didn’t notice the soundtrack.

Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?

Yes.

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Popcorn and mochi crunch!

On a different note, what’s new with you?

Our three Egan’s Fit Body Bootcamp locations are doing great and growing. I really have been enjoying presenting to groups on health and wellness, having a “world champion mindset” and goal-setting.

My personal goal for this year is to reach out to more businesses to help companies implement wellness programs to improve quality of life for their employees.

I also just finished my first book, titled Becoming Relentless, which is expected to be released in March. For more information, please check out hawaiifitcamp.com.
