American Savings Bank Olympic Curling Fundraiser
American Savings Bank brought the Olympic sport of curling and some of its brightest stars to the Ice Palace earlier this year, benefiting Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. Tracy Sachtjen and John “Nilla” Benton, members of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team, conducted student clinics and coached teams for a fundraiser “competition.” In conjunction with the newly formed Hawaii Curling Club, ASB gathered 16 sponsored teams of six who played in the state’s very first Charity Curling Classic. Players included Rich Wacker, president and CEO of ASB, Martha Smith, CEO of Kapiolani Medical Center, and Ray Vara, CEO of Hawaii Pacific Health.
