Aiea Electronics-recycling Firm Offers Free E-Waste Pickup

An electronics recycling company in Aiea is offering free e-waste pickup for Oahu businesses now through the end of the year.

Pacific Corporate Solutions sends all of its collected items to its Halawa warehouse for sorting, hard-drive destruction, packing and shipping to California. It welcomes desktop and laptop computers, CPUs, servers, CRT and LCD monitors, keyboards, mice, scanners, routers, DVD players, VCRs, telephones, PDAs, copiers and printers, fax machines, MP3 players, speakers stereo equipment, digital and video cameras, calculators, electronic boards, cords and cables.

According to Lance Furuyama, PCS vice president of operations, the company recycled about 725 tons of electronics in 2012, the most popular being computers, monitors and printers.

“By cutting the amount of toxic electronic waste going into our landfills,” Furuyama said, “we can make a huge positive impact on our environment.”

For more information, or to schedule a pickup, call 488-8870. The company also offers a free drop-off service on week-days at its facility, 99-1305 Koaha Place in Halawa Valley.

Owned by Sims Recycling Solutions, the Hawaii-based asset management company was founded here in 2008 and is the state’s exclusive agent for electronics recycling via government requirements.
