Making Tasty Jams And Jellies

Malama Learning Center and WOW workshops present Introduction to Preserving: Jams and Jellies from 9 a.m. to noon June 16 at ‘Ilima at Leihano, a senior community in Kapolei.

The workshop offers a fun, easy way to learn how to create beautiful, tasty gifts. Cooking expert Michelle Jones will teach the basics of making jams by using fruit from local backyards. Jones frequently makes different kinds of preserves and is excited to share her knowledge and passion with the community.

Everyone will have a chance to try different preserves, as well as personalize their own jars with fabric, labels and giftwrap. Students are encouraged to bring fruits from their own yards – such as mangos, lilikoi or oranges – to get the creative juices going.

No walk-ins are allowed, and registration is online prior to the event at malamalearningcenter.org or by contacting Janice Staab at 542-9017 or janice@malamalearningcenter.org. Fee is $10 per person or $25 for families of three.

‘Ilima at Leihano is located at 891 Kamaaha Ave.
