DOE Urging Kaneohe Families To Partner Up

Castle Complex will convene its Educational Summit VI from 8:45 a.m. to noon June 2 in Heeia Elementary School cafeteria to celebrate family involvement.

Parents, teachers, staff and Kaneohe residents all are welcome, and coordinator Susan Young is determined that everyone will leave with a thorough understanding of the new Castle Complex Family-School Partnership Initiative.

Young said the event also will recognize dedicated family-school partners – “all those people who volunteer so much of their time and who don’t get recognized because they’re busy recognizing everybody else.”

Also on the morning agenda is a presentation of the six categories of ways that families can “engage to strengthen schools and student achievement.”

Morning refreshments and door prizes are planned for all those who live or work in the 96744 ZIP code area. Prizes include Hawaiian Airline miles, an ukulele and lessons from Roy Sakuma, and a $100 American Express gift card for Windward Mall.

The summit is sponsored by the Castle Complex Community Council and the Castle/Kahuku Complex Area of the DOE’s Windward District.
