First Aid Classes at Wayland University

Red Cross staff will conduct classes in adult and pediatric first aid next month at Wayland Baptist University in Mililani.

The classes are an extension of monthly instruction offered at American Red Cross Hawaii’s headquarters on Diamond Head Road in Honolulu, and will run from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19 at the college, which is located at 95-1091 Ainamakua Drive in Mililani Mauka.

* Adult First Aid/CPR/AED — The full course includes video, book-work and hands-on skills training with manikins. Students will learn how to recognize and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries, as well as how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies. Fee is $90.

* Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED — Training (as above) will expand to include adults, children and infants. Fee is $110.
