Kahaluu Candidates Forum July 17 At KEY

Ahead of Hawaii’s Aug. 9 primary election, Windward residents are invited to attend a candidate forum for Senate Districts 23 and 24 and House Districts 47 and 48, hosted from 7 to 9:30 p.m. July 17 by Kahaluu Neighborhood Board at KEY Project at 47-200 Waihee Road.

Attendees are welcome to mingle with the candidates informally for the first half-hour, and later pose direct queries during a moderated question-and-answer session.

Candidates running for state Sen. Clayton Hee’s vacant District 23 seat (Heeia to Waialua) include Gil Riviere, Norman Kaaipohaku J. Brown, Richard Fale and Colleen Meyer. Sen. Jill Tokuda of District 24 (Kailua-Kaneohe) is running against Kilomana Michael Danner.

Names on the ballot for Rep. Fale’s vacant District 47 seat (Waiahole-Waialua) are Kent K. Fonoimoana and Feki Pouha.

State Rep. Jessica Wooley’s open District 48 seat (Kahaluu-Kaneohe) has attracted five hopeful candidates: Robert Harris, Jarrett K. Keohokalole, Eldean L. Kukahiko, Kana Naipo and Kaimanu Takayama.
