University Health Alliance (UHA) Health Insurance recently donated $10,000 to Hawaii Pacific University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS), to support the Dean’s Fund for Student Excellence.

The grant will help pay for activities, projects, conferences and equipment that build student and faculty success.

HPU currently enrolls about 900 undergraduate nursing students, 100 health sciences students and 55 graduate students in CNHS, which operates on the Kaneohe campus.

The university offers bachelor’s and masters degrees in both fields and is considered one of the state’s most productive sources of registered nurses.

Noting that UHA was founded by physicians, its chief executive officer Howard Lee said, “HPU students with determination to make an impact … will be able to receive education opportunities and learn with cutting-edge equipment, both contributing to their overall learning experience and preparing them for the real world.”

The presentation was made in December by UHA officials to the nursing school.
