Weaving On Down To The Woes Lineup

Lanikai invites the public to come on down to its 46th annual Woes Parade and Recovery Party, beginning at 9 a.m. Jan. 1 with a lineup of floats on Kaiolena Drive.

Friskier New Year’s Eve partiers in recovery also are welcome at the first foot race of the year – starting at 8 a.m. on Aalapapa Drive near the basketball courts and doing the loop. The race is open to all ages with no entry fee but plenty of prizes at the end.

Woes marchers can enjoy the homemade floats, decorated strollers, pets and assorted costumed characters. The parade also does the loop and ends back at the park for a breakfast of juice, scrambled eggs, sausage, muffins and coffee from chef Dave Smith and crew. Entertaining diners will be the Dixieland sounds of the Pacific Trades Jass Band led by Jack Morse. Also planned: an art auction of Mark Brown’s first painting of the new year. Proceeds will go to Lanikai Association.
