HPU To Hold Auditions For Moliere’s ‘Tartuffe’

Hawaii Pacific University will present one of Moliere’s most famous and entertaining comedies, Tartuffe, this fall, and its drama department will conduct auditions for it at 7 p.m. Friday, and noon Saturday and Sunday at Paul and Vi Loo Theatre on the Hawaii Loa campus.

Parts are available for a dozen adults, from mothers and husbands to maids and a religious fraud, Tartuffe himself. The play satirizes religious hypocrisy by following the escapades of the wily opportunist and swindler who is foiled in the end.

Scripts are available at HPU’s Windward and downtown libraries. Rehearsals will run Monday through Friday nights and some weekends as needed prior to the Nov. 8-Dec. 8 playdates.
