Kapolei Housing Sales Begin

Housing units in Awakea at Mehana in Kapolei went on sale last month, and are ongoing.

Awakea, which means “midday sun,” is the latest installment to D.R. Horton’s Mehana community.

Units consist of twoand three-bedroom condominium townhomes, starting in the high $300,000 range. The eight different floor plans will feature the flex home concept, which offers an extra room for adult children, parents, extended family or office space. For those who earn 80 percent of the island’s median income, 30 affordable units will be available within the community.

Awakea is comprised of 115 housing units, along with 10 business condominiums for businesses that could include coffee shops, medical offices or other professional services.

D.R. Horton says that they have designed Mehana with mixed-use principles in mind and hope that it will be a place where residents not only can live, but work and play as well. It states that the development will consist of commercial, retail and office spaces, a school, a public park and a community center when complete.
