Chocolate Extravaganza To Help Family Promise

Chocolate lovers, rejoice: The 10th annual Chocolate Extravaganza returns from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 10 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Kailua, and a buffet of chocolate delights awaits, including a fountain of liquid chocolate as well as a silent auction.

A decade ago the congregation wanted to reach out and help those in the community, so each year proceeds from the chocolate event are shared with worthy nonprofits. Its continuing success and popularity have been a boon for Family Promise of Hawaii (for the sixth year) to further its mission with homeless families.

“We will have nearly 100 silent auction items, a flowing chocolate fountain and buffet tables covered with even more chocolate – all donated by businesses and individuals who support both Family Promise and Emmanuel Church,” said Family Promise executive director Mary Saunders. “We are so grateful for the support of the community, and we encourage everyone to come celebrate and enjoy some chocolate.”

Among the donors of goods or services to the silent auction are Agnes Portuguese Bake Shop, Cinnamon’s Restaurant, Buzz’s Lanikai, Baci Bistro, Bead It!, Big City Diner, Bookends, Picket Fence Florist, 3660 On the Rise, Morton’s Steakhouse, Manoa Chocolate, Hokulani Bake Shop, La Tour Bakehouse, JJ Bistro & French Pastry, Vacations Hawaii, Hawaii Opera Theatre, The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Helena’s Hawaiian Food and Anuenue Gems and Jewels.

Tickets are available at $25 presale or $30 at the door. Keiki ages 6 and under will be admitted for free. Valet parking is $1. There also is limited VIP seating in the church garden starting at 5 p.m. for $35 per person.
