$10,000 Grant Awarded For Health Center Plan

Faith Action for Community Equity (FACE) has received a $10,000 donation from UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Hawaii to support the development of the yet-to-be-built Wahiawa Center for Community Health.

“The federal grant awarded last year … has enabled FACE to lay the foundation for the new Wahiawa Center for Community Health, and these funds will help to continue the work of making the center a reality,” said Mary Talon, president of the board of directors of the WCCH and leader of FACE.

The $80,000 federal grant is awarded to help communities underserved by medical care. Wahiawa residents must now visit either the North Shore or Waianae health centers.

“UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Hawaii is grateful for the opportunity to continue its partnership with FACE and provide funding for this very worthwhile effort,” said Dave Heywood, vice president of UnitedHealthcare

Community Plan of Hawaii. “The Wahiawa Center for Community Health will help provide needed services to the underserved as well as QUEST and QExA members.”
