‘Willy Wonka’ Story Comes To Paliku Stage

A theater company based on the other side of Oahu has picked a Kaneohe stage once again to showcase its musical production.

Diamond in the Rough presents Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka this weekend at Paliku Theatre, featuring NYC guest artist Jason Summers in the title role.

In this stage adaption of Dahl’s 1964 children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the troupe will follow the adventures of five children on a quest to win the ultimate prize: a free tour of the chocolate factory and a lifetime supply of candy. The show is directed by Kristi Kashimoto-Rowbottom, a veteran of Broadway who also runs Applause! Performance Academy in Wahiawa.

Curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Windward Community College venue. Tickets cost $19 and $10 and can be reserved at showtix4u.com or by email at ditrdirector@yahoo.com.
