Ward Centers welcomes new stores this month and throughout the summer, including Waiola Shave Ice, Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot, The Monarch Tea Room, Big Island Delights, and And More…By Local Fever.

Waiola Shave Ice opens June 1 and will be located at Ward Warehouse. This will be the company’s third location, serving its famous refreshing treat with homemade syrups and natural flavors.

Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot opened last Friday and is located at Ward Centre (above Genki Sushi). Customers can enjoy fresh cooked meats made in a communal pot. With 36 spices and ingredients in its original soup base, Little Sheep’s flavorful broth is prepared from scratch daily with high quality and fresh ingredients, no MSG or preservatives added. The broth is served with a variety of options, including meats, vegetables and seafood.

The Monarch Tea Room is a new addition to Na Mea Hawaii/Native Books at Ward Warehouse, and will serve artisan sandwiches, locally made pastries, treats and beverages, including teas that have been sourced from around the world.

Big Island Delights will be relocating its Ward Centre store to Ward Warehouse this summer, and will continue to offer its popular baked goods, made with top-notch raw ingredients, such as fresh butter, eggs, pure Tahitian vanilla extract, fine chocolate and 100 percent Hawaiian-grown roasted macadamia nuts.

And More…by Local Fever opens in June at the former Nordstrom Rack location, next to Office Depot. The store, which is operated by Jeans Warehouse, Inc., will carry the latest trends in fashion, home, accessories and more. There will be more than 15 departments to shop from, including kitchen, cosmetics, bedding and men’s clothing.

Hawaiian May! Food Summit And Fashion Show

The Hawaiian May! 2014 Food Summit takes place May 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Jefferson Elementary School. The event is free and open to the public, and is a gathering of Oahu’s local food trucks, collaborating with local favorite Art + Flea and live DJs on Art Truck Hawaii. Participating restaurants include Eggs N’ Things, Leonard’s Bakery, Lanikai Juice, Blue Water Shrimp and more.

Stage entertainment includes local bands and talk shows with popular models from Japan. There also will be a Super Burger Challenge and activities for kids. Jefferson Elementary is located at 342 Kapahulu Ave.

There also is a Hawaiian May! Collection 2014 Fashion Show taking place May 23 at the Ocean Lawn of The Royal Hawaiian from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the show are not for sale, but the public can view the event from the beach area fronting the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Look for designated viewing areas in front of the hotel.

Japanese models will introduce the latest fashion trends in Hawaii on an outdoor runway stage. Participating brands from Hawaii include Aloha Aina Boutique, Angels by the Sea, Fighting Eel, MB by Matt Bruening, MUSE by RIMO, Muumuu Heaven, Issa de’ mar, Pualani, San Lorenzo and 88 Tees. There also will be a performance by Japanese girl group E-girls.
