Wahiawa’s Sakura Trolley Trip

It’s Sakura Safari-Hana Mi time in Wahiawa.

The Wahiawa Nikkei Civic Association and Leilehua High School Nakayoshi Kai Club invites everyone to take a cultural trolley ride.

The 90-minute tour of Wahiawa Town will show off the abundance of cherry blossom, or sakura trees, in the still-rural community.

The Feb. 2 event celebrates the tradition of the first sakura tree planting from Okinawa, and their continued propagation by Wahiawa residents. Guests can enjoy the ride in the cool climate, which keeps the sakura trees beautiful and in good health.

Trolley passengers – who have made reservations by Jan. 26 – should meet at Wahiawa Ryusenji Soto Mission. Cost is $18 for trolley ride and $5 for an optional Kitchen Delight bento. Seating is limited; call 291-6151.
