The Koolauloa community is preparing for this month’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life, its annual war against the disease, and it seeks teams, volunteers and cancer survivors to join the effort.

The relay will run from 5:30 p.m. May 25 until 6 a.m. May 26 at Hauula Community Park, featuring live entertainment, health screenings, food, a luminaria ceremony and a silent auction, in addition to the all-night, fundraising relay. To volunteer or register a team, call Don Porter at 548-8444.

The group also plans a Survivor Dinner for 6:30 p.m. May 15 in the Hauula Elementary School cafeteria, catered by Papa Ole’s Kitchen. The event is free to cancer survivors and caregivers, and will include entertainment by Kahiau. Additional tickets will be available for purchase. For more information, call Kristen Tuifua at 382-9202.

A Kaneohe-Kailua Relay for Life is tentatively set for July 7 at Kailua High School. For other details, call the American Cancer Society-Hawaii office at 595-7544.
