PetSmart Mililani associates installed a 10-gallon aquarium for the residents of Family Promise Center, as part of nationwide program called PetSmart Promise.

The collaboration between PetSmart and Family Promise is placing 50 fish tanks in Family Promise facilities across the country.

“PetSmart’s contributions will make a huge difference in the daily lives of homeless children,” said Mary Saunders, executive director of Family Promise Center of Hawaii. “It is gratifying to see a major retailer joining our fight against family homelessness. This donation will help create a more homey environment for our families staying at the Honolulu facility and give the children an opportunity to learn about pets.”

Family Promise of Hawaii will be responsible for the maintenance of the fish tank, which will help teach children staying at the facility lessons about pet ownership.

“PetSmart is proud to donate this aquarium to Family Promise of Hawaii,” said Kevin Rokosz, PetSmart Mililani store manager.

“To know we are positively impacting the lives of those without a home really makes this contribution that much more rewarding.”
