Moon To Shine On Chamber Concert 2

Back for an encore, Kailua Chamber of Commerce will present its second Full Moon Concert from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Kailua District Park. The event is free to the public with plenty of lawn seating.

“We had a great turnout for our first concert,” said series founder John Stalling, a local Realtor. “Makana played, and about 500 to 800 people showed up (Aug. 10). Now, with the word out around the community and the concert scheduled under the full moon, which is really just two days’ shy of the full moon rising, we are sure to have another great evening.”

Headlining the lineup of reggae, rock and blues are Hoku award-winner Paula Fuga and her musical partner Mike Love and the Mike Love Trio, plus Paul Izak with songs from his CD Seeds of Love. Hawaii’s slam poetry star Kealoha will again emcee.

“When John first came to us with the idea of a free concert series, we thought what a great way to get everyone together — not just for business but for pleasure,” added KCOC treasurer Pam Davis. “What’s fantastic is to see our hard work come to fruition and everyone enjoying themselves. Hard work pays off.”

Food vendors will open at 5:30 p.m. to serve the crowds. Coolers and outside food are OK, but no barbecues, booze or tents. Bring low lawn chairs and blankets. There’s also a free bike valet service.

Sponsorships and donations fund the series, and more support is always welcome. To offer help, call 261-7997. Sponsors, supporters and volunteers enjoy preferred seating in front of the stage.
