Lions Test Hearing At Waialua El

Mililani and Waialua Lions joined forces to provide hearing screenings Dec. 12 for students at Waialua Elementary School.

Waikiki Lions Club member Shannon Ching provided the electronic devices to determine if the 164 kindergarteners, first- and second-graders were hearing-impaired or suffered from other abnormalities. Of those tested, seven were found to have medical and/or audiometric deficiencies serious enough to warrant further diagnoses.

Referral forms describing the deficiencies were provided to the school for forwarding to their parents.

Lions from the Waikiki 2000, Pearl City and Chinatown clubs also supported the free health screening effort.
