The 16U Cal A’s Hawai‘i team recently took part in the Premier Girls Fastpitch national championships July 29-Aug. 4. Team members include Aloha and Mahalo Akaka, Briahni Alejo, Cassidy Worzalla, Gianna Araki, Harlie Sonognini, Jana Fukushima, Jordyn Lono, Lexi Carlos, Mikaela Perez, Mikelle Gonzales, Rylee Nishimoto, Salina Serikawa and Sierrah Kupihea, as well as coaches Al Higuchi, Randy Langsi, Alicia Andres, Brian, Jennifer and Ashley Iseri, and Kaylee Quezada. Not pictured is Lorianne Canas.

The Diamonds Black 12U boys team from Pearl City won the Pacific Southwest Regional title. Le Jardin Soccer Academy’s U11 and U12 boys came home champions after winning gold medals at the Sounders FC Cup in Seattle. Both teams emerged victorious after penalty shootouts.

Shawna Montalbo (left) and Brienna Gomes placed third and first, respectively, in the Women (12+) Amateur division during Loretta Lynn’s Southwest Youth and Amateur Regional Championship in California.
