Kapolei Troupe Sings Out Dec. 2

Performance ensemble PACKids & Company kicks off the holiday season with A Musical Holiday Greeting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Kapolei High School Forum.

The show will feature Broadway, show choir, popular and Hawaiian music, along with a variety of dance styles including jazz, tap and hula.

Get there early for pre-show fun. Starting at 5 p.m., pictures with Santa, holiday-themed food booths, crafts for the kids and more will be available.

Proceeds from the event will go toward PACKids to fund program and production costs.

PACKids & Company is an offshoot of the after-school theatre program Performing Arts Center of Kapolei, which was formed earlier this year. The group is guided by vocalist Angela Morales (of Na Leo Pilimehana) and accompanist Phil Hildago.

The troupe also is available for hire for parties, caroling or stage performances. But reservations must be made soon – PACKids’ schedule is filling up quickly. They also will perform at the Honolulu City Lights tree lighting ceremony and Kapolei Commons’ Snow Day. In addition, the group also plans to make the rounds at various hospitals, including Kapiolani and Queen’s.

“They are trying to do community outreach as well,” said PACK parent volunteer Kari Nettel. “In addition to trying to support their group, they also try to support their community.

“I think it’s a really great family event, especially for families who have children,” Nettel added. “Not only can you come and get this fabulous show, but before the show, Santa is going to be there, and we are going to have different (activities) for the kids … It is a great way to get in the mood for Christmas.”

Tickets for A Musical Holiday Greeting cost $10.
