Kaneohe Kickball Seeks Teams Now

Kicking a ball around can be a good way to help reduce child abuse in Hawaii, and PARENTS Inc. is lining up teams now for its second annual charity kickball tournament next month.

Planned for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 6 at Kaneohe District Park (on the phase II fields), the tournament seeks sponsors and eight-person teams to register and participate. Billed as a day of “food, fun and exercise,” fees and donations from the event will support the group’s mission to prevent child abuse and neglect in Hawaii. PARENTS stands for Providing Awareness Referrals Education Nurturing Therapy Support.

Fee is $250 for each team of co-workers, family or friends (over age 8). Teams also will compete for prizes for the best costume or uniform themes. Registration deadline is March 29. Also planned are door prizes and a keiki zone with relay races, hurdles, tank crawling, face-painting and more.

Sponsor commitments range from $1,000 to $10,000, and checks should be made payable to PARENTS Inc., 45-955 Kamehameha Hwy., #403, Kaneohe, HI 96744. For more information, call 235-0255. For registration forms, go to hawaiiparents.org.
