Flood Maps, Insurance Revised

Flood insurance rates and redevelopment plans may change on Oahu in a dozen mapped areas, and the public can view the preliminary revisions on state and federal websites.

West Oahu residents and property owners who live near the shoreline, streams or other flood-prone areas may be affected and are urge to review the latest maps, which have been revised by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The revisions to the city’s digital flood insurance rate maps were completed recently, resulting in updates to special flood areas that include these West Oahu locations: Waimalu Stream, Campbell Industrial Park drainage canal and Halawa Stream.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources has the maps on view at https://gis.hawaiinfip.org/fhat.
