Crime Talk For Kaneohe

State Sen. Jill Tokuda, Rep. Ken Ito and the Haiku Condominium Association have set a meeting for 6:30 to 8 p.m.Thursday at Heeia Elementary cafeteria to discuss anti-crime measures for Kaneohe.

The venue is at the heart of an area hit hard by break-ins and burglaries in recent months. HPD’s District 4 community policing team also will attend and share with concerned residents how they can set up self-help neighborhood security watch programs.

Officers also will provide tips and reminders on how families can stay safe and secure in their homes.

Light refreshments and “good conversation between friends” will add to the evening, Tokuda stated. Part of an effective crime-prevention program, officers have said in the past, is for neighbors to get to know each other and communicate.
