Benefit Event In Waipahu Raises Funds For Advocacy Group

REVO Oahu hosted a benefit Aug. 11 for the nonprofit ONE Hawaii at 3rd Cup Cafe & Venue in the Kunia Times building, offering art displays, DJs, live music, spoken word performances and various vendors.

REVO, short for “revolution,” is a local grassroots movement that aims to raise funds and awareness for nonprofits by hosting these benefits. The group got its start in Hilo in 2007, and it has since spread to 15 states and four other countries. REVO Oahu intends to educate people about local and international social justice issues.

All of the proceeds from the art night went to ONE Hawaii, which works to fight poverty and preventable disease by raising awareness in the community and lobbying in the political arena.
