All’s Well With ALTRES’ Wellness Tool

BY SIANA AUSTIN HUNT, director of corporate philanthropy at ALTRES

Since 1969, ALTRES has been an industry leader in providing topnotch outsourced HR services coupled with unrivaled HR and job-search technology. In 2019, our company created the ALTRES Foundation, our nonprofit arm that supports local communities through critical social, economic and environmental challenges.

We all have witnessed the devastating health and economic effects of COVID-19 in our communities. Among ALTRES Foundation’s various innovative responses to the pandemic is Wellness

Tracker, a health and wellness self-screening tool that allows companies to manage and monitor staff in real time. The ALTRES Foundation is offering this service to Hawai‘i businesses at no cost, to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

The concept of Wellness Tracker originated from simplicityHR by ALTRES’ efforts to provide a frontline defense to support our clients and their reopening with a safe and reliable resource for employee communication and self-screening. Our HR experts and in-house software developers produced a tool that would meet the needs of our employers, as well as address ease of use within our proprietary HR technology, HR Symphony.

Wellness Tracker is a simple daily health survey sent to a company’s workforce via text message before they start their workday. In a few easy steps, employees are cleared to report in person or instructed to remain at home while their manager is notified to follow up. Built-in mass messaging features allow group messages to be broadcast via text in case an exposure requires messaging to direct people to stay home.

In the last few months, ALTRES has deployed Wellness Tracker within our own staff and client base, and it has been proven to be effective — preventing hundreds of self-identified employees from entering the workplace if they feel ill. Over 250 Hawai‘i companies are now in the process of rolling out Wellness Tracker to their teams.

Our goal is not to monetize our efforts, but to reduce the spread of the virus and restart our economy. Wellness Tracker, a gift provided by the ALTRES Foundation, is an extension of our statewide community support efforts.
