Here’s a brief look at what some of your neighbors have been up to recently.

Waipahu resident Nicole Fernandez, a senior at Radford High School, recently was named second runner-up in the 2014 Distinguished Young Woman of Hawaii scholarship competition.

Girls from both public and private high schools are invited to enter the annual competition, where they are evaluated on their demonstrated scholastic abilities and leadership qualities.

Fernandez won a $2,250 cash scholarship, along with an additional $1,500 for her “Be Your Best Self” essay and for the Scholastics category. Fernandez also was named the Top Scholar in the program, for which she earned a four-year scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University.

Prosis Hawaii LLC general manager Daniel Yousey, a Waikele resident, was named the 2013 Project Manager of the Year by the Honolulu chapter of Project Management Institute. Prior to joining Prosis in 2008, Yousey served as the operations chief of Pacific Air Forces Operations and Security Center. Most recently, he was responsible for overseeing the engineering, fielding, installation and testing of information technology and phone systems at Aulani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina.

Pearl City resident Jeremy Trueblood is now branch manager of Title Guaranty’s main office, after being promoted from assistant branch manager. Trueblood began his career at Title Guaranty in 2004 as an associate after earning a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois.

In his new position, Trueblood will be responsible for managing escrow services.

Not only did Air National Guard Airman 1st class Kyle A. Bardenas graduate from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas, but he also distinguished himself as an honors graduate of the training. Bardenas is the grandson of Maria Bardenas and nephew of Shane Bardenas of Ewa Beach.
