Overall what did you think?

I was actually expecting it to be worse. These action movies are like Hollywood’s version of fast food – a staple of the American diet, but filled with empty calories.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

I especially enjoyed the scene where a man who lost both arms is able to play classical guitar using two artificial limbs. With so many of our brave service members returning home with this type of predicament, I know that many brilliant engineers and scientists continue to make great strides in the development of “smart” prosthetic limbs.

Robotics is key to returning service members and others to the full mobility that the rest of us take for granted.

On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?

★★ or ★★ 1/2.

What did you think of the cinematography?

With films using so much CG nowadays, if it’s not on par with something like The Matrix, it’s not worth mentioning.

What was the message/theme?

Flawed humans are perpetually susceptible to corruption and propaganda. Oh, and love conquers all. Yadda yadda yadda.

Did it remind you of any other works of film?

Perhaps I, Robot, for its mix of robots and law enforcement, or else this movie from my childhood called RoboCop.

To whom would you recommend this movie?

Those who enjoy action flicks.

Did any of the actors stand out?

I’m always amazed at the variety of performances Gary Oldman can put out.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

None in particular.

Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?

Were there to be no soundtrack, one would notice, but this one was typical for the genre.

Would you watch this movie again?

There are too many things out there that I have to watch for the first time before I can get to re-watching anything.

What’s your favorite movie snack?

They sell black licorice for a reason – it’s good stuff!

On a different note, what’s new with you?

We continue to seek donations for our robotics team. We just finished our 120-pound yoga ball catapulting robot for the FIRST Robotics Competition at the Stan Sheriff Arena, taking place March 28 and 29, and then we’re off to San Jose State University the following weekend. We’re also getting ready for the 200-team VEX Summer Games at the Hawaii Convention Center July 11 and 12.
