Pool Company Puts Customers First

Growing up, Misty Tausaga discovered one major downside to having a pool: Her family had trouble finding a pool-cleaning company that provided the level of service they expected. Remembering these challenges, Tausaga and husband Livi launched Splash Pool Cleaning in 2010 to provide top-quality workmanship.

“We wanted to stand out by giving quality, not quantity,” explains Tausaga. “That is our biggest goal: just to give the best quality we can.”

Based out of the couple’s home in Kaneohe, Splash Pool Cleaning offers regular cleaning, maintenance and pressure washing. In addition, it offers repairs, including fixing filters and motors. One of the company’s specialities has become fixing what is known as green pools, which is a pool that has been overrun with algae. The problem can be a tricky one to solve and often requires draining the entire pool, but Splash Pool Cleaning has discovered a way to treat a green pool without draining it.

The company has close to 40 regular customers, but it chooses to keep its operation small. It’s comprised of Tausaga, who oversees the business end; Livi, the primary pool serviceman; and her sister, Tracie Pundyke, who handles accounting.

“That is the only way that we can make sure that we get our customer service right on,” Tausaga explains.

The company started small but picked up quickly – a growth Tausaga attributes to its quality customer service.

Ahuimanu resident Tara Takekawa, for one, has been impressed with Splash’s level of commitment to cleaning her pool and Jacuzzi once a week.

“They have been so consistent. Even when it was storming one day, I thought for sure that they would cancel, but nope, there they were in the rain,” says Takekawa, who has been a Splash client for more than three years.

For Tausaga, providing her community with high-quality service is what keeps her going.

“I am a firm believer in customer service, and I love my community that I live in,” says Tausaga. “The satisfaction of our customers is primary for us. I really feel that to serve the community is really the utmost reward to me.”
