‘Demigods Anonymous’ Arrives At Windward CC Venue

Written by Windward CC alum Noa Helela, the queer-centered superhero fantasy tells the story of people manifesting ancient kupua (demigod) powers to transform into animals.
Helela is a Hawai- ian-Asian-European mul- timedia artist whose work includes filmmaking, play- writing, music and poetry. She is a Hawaiʻi Conser- vatory of Performing Arts emerging island artist.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28-29 and Nov. 3-4; and 4 p.m. Oct. 30 and Nov. 6.
The performance follows Noe Lahana, who struggles with shape-shifting into a giant lizard at her mandat- ed Demigods Anonymous meetings.
Helela’s projects are set in Hawaiʻi and involve fantasy realism and dark humor.
Tickets are $20 general admission; $15 for seniors, University of Hawai‘i fac- ulty and staff and active duty military with ID; and $10 for youth and college students with ID. The per- formance is recommended for age 13 and older.
