Windward O‘ahu Residents Help Keiki Get Ready To Learn

The public can stop by any ASB branch in the state from June 13 to July 15 to make a monetary or school supply donation that will support children from low-income and houseless families.
The school supply kits contain a variety of the most common items found on the state Department of Educa- tion’s back-to-school lists. Each kit is valued at approxi- mately $30 and the goal is to distribute 1,000 kits to stu- dents.

The donations that are re- ceived through this partner- ship supplement preordered inventory purchased with donated and grant-awarded funds for students from kin- dergarten to 12th grade.

   It will provide them an op- portunity to participate and achieve in the classroom.
“Our Ready to Learn pro- gram has a tradition of sup- porting the community and provides kids with free edu- cational kits containing es- sential school supplies each fall,” states HHH president and CEO Susan Furuta. “And we couldn’t provide this as- sistance without business partners like ASB, who are invested in the well-being of keiki throughout the state.”
Some items needed in- clude backpacks, black or blue ballpoint pens, eras- ers, markers, face masks and colored pencils. Others are wide-ruled composition books, crayons, yellow high- lighters and more.
During a recent community service event, Kailua Elks Lodge 2230 and Timmy T’s Gourmet Grinders provided a lunch of gratitude to the Honolulu Police Department Kailua substation in May as part of Law Enforcement Appreciation Month.
