CHS Class of ’73, Community Rally Behind Dean’s Drive Inn

“When it rains, it pours,” read the Facebook post and call to action from Castle High School Class of 1973. One of their classmates, Dean Mishima, the man behind Dean’s Drive-Inn on William Henry Road had suffered a setback after a year of piv- oting and adjusting to doing business during the pandemic.

The restaurant was just coming up on the one-year mark of its switch to take- out-only service when the rains of March 9 hit, flooding the restaurant.
“All the booths needed to be removed; (the) exhaust fan needed to be replaced, and supplies and goods were dam- aged from the flood,” Mishi- ma states. “Large fans needed to be brought in to dry the area out; drywall needed to be checked for mold.”
