Working hand in hand is something caregivers are used to, so it is only fitting that the book is a product of 22 nurses — Dominguez is one of them and is rep- resenting Hawai‘i — com- ing together from around the world and sharing their thoughts or stories to pro- vide support for distressed colleagues or nursing stu- dents feeling overwhelmed.
Sharing a bit about her history, Dominguez says her upbringing shaped her to be the nurse she is today.

Dominguez also explains she took care of her grand- father who suffered a stroke when she was younger. So, in retrospect, nursing is something that Dominguez seems to have been destined for.

“These letters offer en- couragement, hope and a re- minder that we are all in this together,” states Domin- guez.
“I have learned to devel- op compassion for the sick and the elderly at a young age through my grandpar- ents,” she reveals. “Time spent with them was a time well spent. My grandpar- ents, most especially ‘Nan- ay Vebs,’ my grandmother, — yes, we share the same unique name — has show- ered me with so much love and support. She taught me
“Being a nurse is a de- manding but a fulfilling role,” she notes. “Be pa- tient with yourself. Keep on learning, keep on persever- ing and keep on exploring.
