According to soccer mom Traci Enhada, the students loved spoiling the 9-month- old baby they were assigned to and spent more than $400 on clothes, diapers, formu- la, toys and accessories for the little one. Laulima Giv- ing Program is a partnership between Keiki O Ka ‘Āina Family Learning Centers and KHON2. Those interested in adopting a family can visit laulimagivingprogram.org. On Dec. 11, the 50th anniversa- ry Honolulu Marathon took over the city, as more than 14,000 participants from all over the world ran 26.2 miles through town to Hawai‘i Kai and back. Representing West O‘ahu in the top 75 is Kap- olei’s Andy You (28th place; 2 hours, 53 minutes and 58 seconds), Pat Duboyce (41st place; 02:59:34), Bran- don Dibianca (51st place; 03:03:18); ‘Ewa Beach’s Valentine Roberts (63rd place, 03:05:50); and Waipa- hu’s Blake Freed (74th place, 03:08:07). Meanwhile,
Kapolei’s Garrett Kuwada earned himself fifth place in the wheelchair portion with a time of 04:17:32. The Honolulu Marathon is the fourth largest marathon in the country following New York, Chicago and Boston ... Island Pacific Academy’s Home for the Holidays event, which took place Dec. 18, welcomed back alumni to celebrate their achievements and discuss how the school helped shape their futures. One former student in par- ticular was 2015 grad Kim- berly Uehisa. Now residing in Los Angeles, Uehisa is applying for medical school and plans to return to O‘ahu to practice medicine and address the health dispari- ties that she sees in her own ‘ohana and the community.
