On Dec. 3, join the Waiʻanae Coast Communi- ty Foundation’s inaugural Nānākuli Christmas Lights from 4 to 9 p.m. at Nānākuli Village Center (89-102 Far- rington Hwy.). The event will feature food, crafts, en- tertainment from Nānākuli Homestead and family activ- ities including a Christmas presentation by Nānākuli High School, a coloring con- test involving area schools and a kūpuna tent.
On the same day (Dec. 10), Ahupuaʻa O Nānāku- li Homestead will hold its “Christmas on the Avenue 2022 Kalikimaka Ma Ke Alanui” from 5 to 10 p.m. along Nānākuli Avenue.
It was presented by Catch Surf and it was all for max- imum fun, with minimum rules. The Red Bull Foam Wreckers showcased 128 local competitors and drew more than 1,000 spectators.
The street fair will include food and craft vendors from within the Nānākuli Home- stead, along with home- grown entertainment. The event brings together com- munity, business and private partners in a safe setting to promote aloha and unity.
Legendary Pipe surfer and Red Bull athlete Jamie O’Brien helped come up with the idea. He’s a contest judge and a foam board fanatic. His nickname is J.O.B. and you want his job — like many others. He explains why this contest is different from all the other surf con- tests.

place final 2022 WCT ranking and make it into the top five like Mamiya in 2023. We start at Pipeline on Jan 29.
Last, we had the first Red Bull Foam Wreckers event at Sandy’s on Nov. 5 with solid 4-foot grinders. The parking lot and beach were packed from 6:30 a.m. This event went off the hook.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind; it’s the most official, nonofficial surf contest in the world. It’s all about having fun and en- joying yourself, win or lose,” O’Brien says.
