OCTOBER 5, 2022
With COVID re- strictions easing, I’ m excited to see our lives swing back into full gear. In our district, my staff and I have been connecting with nonprofit organizations, schools and churches to see how we can work together to further serve our community.
event. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on North Road in ‘Ewa Beach is partnering with our office and Aloha Harvest to distribute food to the ‘Ewa community on Oct. 8. A big mahalo to Aloha Harvest, a nonprofit organization that supplies free food to the most vulnerable members of our community. Partic- ipants must preregister, so check our office social me- dia accounts for the regis- tration link.
“I’m happy to announce that we’ll be hosting our fifth food distribution event.”
Weed & Seed Hawai‘i for the ‘Ewa Beach Keiki & Kūpuna Health and Safety Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 15. The event will take place at Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i Hale Pono ‘Ewa Beach Clubhouse (91-
884 Fort Weaver Road Ste. A). The pandemic has taken a toll on families, especial- ly keiki and kūpuna, so we hope the health and safety fair will help provide re- sources and information to those in need.

Restrictions Easing, More Community Engagement
Didyouknowthat1in6 Hawai‘i residents and 35% of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders rely on help from the food bank to feed their family? With that in mind, our office part- nered with Aloha Harvest, Hui O Ho‘ohonua and state legislative offices to host three food drives within the last year at Village Park, Waipahu High School and Kapapapuhi Point Park. We even teamed up with Ha- waiian Humane Society to distribute pet food at Asing Community Park.
In addition to food distri- butions, my office and I are excited to see the return of safety fairs. So far, we’ ve helped host the Mililani Safety Fair at Town Center of Mililani and partnered with a number of organi- zations for the Waipahu Health and Safety Fair at Waikele Center.
