Campbell High Alum Connor Johnson Proves He’s ‘Got Talent’ On A Grand Stage
  FROM PAGE 1
No matter what the out- come will be, Johnson un- doubtedly is on the right path to take his talents — in addition to his vocals, he can play the bass, drums, ‘ukulele, trumpet and gui- tar, and write songs — to new heights and places.
wow the judges, but in my head, it’s like they weren’t even there.”
“The energy you get from the crowd gets fed to you and vice versa. If I could play to that every night, I think I’d lose it. That would be the dream.”
Performing in front of crowds is something he thrives on — Johnson has been street performing “al- most every night” since 2016.
And he can count on his hometown to cheer him on while doing so.
“I decided to audition for America’s Got Talent be- cause the adrenaline rush I get performing to a huge crowd is something I’ m addicted to,” he explains. “Seeing everyone’s faces and how stoked everyone is to be there is unlike any- thing else. The energy you get from the crowd gets fed to you and vice versa. If I could play to that ev- ery night, I think I’d lose it. That would be the dream.”
problem and move on to the next. If you think about the long run, it’ ll get in your head.”
hopes his journey on the show will be a long one.
“I’ m super grateful for all the support I’ ve been getting,” states Johnson. “I think Hawai‘i is so special in the sense that the people are so supportive of their own through anything.”
According to Johnson, his mantra for the competi- tion and his musical career is “never put all your eggs in one basket.”
“Simon said I need to get out of my comfort zone, and that’s exactly what I in- tend to do,” states Johnson. “There’s a lot of songs that I play that people wouldn’t expect from someone that specializes in acoustic love songs. I actually really en- joy rearranging songs to fit my style, so it’ll be fun to try some new ones out.”
So, stay tuned (follow him @connorjohnson98 on Instagram as well as @connorjohnson on Tik- Tok) to see how far this lo- cal boy will go.

Johnson is keeping Cow- ell’s piece of advice in mind, though.
“My personal goal for the show is to get as far as I can,” states Johnson. “I’d love to win it. In fact, giv- en the opportunity I really believe I can. But, again, there’s some really talent- ed people on the show, and they’re just as deserving as me to be there. Honestly, I’m just happy to be here, and I’ll give it everything I got.”
