will also allow access to mi- crogrants as well as trainings and mentoring about food garden development.
“When island communi- ties across Hawai‘i rely on 90% of its food being im- ported, it is all of our kūlea- na to help find solutions that work to address the long- term food security and food self-sufficiency needs of our residents,” states Kūhiō Lewis, CNHA president and CEO. “Partnering with HPHI on the Hawai‘i Fund for Food Gardens program will help to provide better community-based access to fresh grown produce, es- pecially for those in AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacif- ic Islanders) and economi- cally disadvantaged commu- nities.”
To commemorate this partnership, leaders of the movement planted a tree and shared seeds and seed- lings with those who at- tended the April 22 event.
