Jumping on the World Championship Tour in the land down under — we fin- ished up event No. 4 of 11 at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach on April 17. This is the lon- gest running surf contest in the world (since 1961) and many regard the trophy as much as a world title.
“Finally, we are back at Bells,” Toledo says. “The last few years we haven’t been able to come here be- cause of everything that has been going on and we’ve missed you Bells ... I couldn’t be happier with this birthday present. After I beat John (Florence) I had that extra confidence going into the next few heats which was exciting ... I’ve been coming here for nine years trying to get a Bell ... This is hard, it’s hard to keep the momentum, and the rhythm going from contest to con- test so hopefully we can keep it going.”
