ish Rothwell, owner of The Pet De- pot, loved animals and dreamed of someday becoming a veterinarian
when she was a young girl. As she grew old- er, she envisioned owning her own business. Although the stars didn’t align for her to be- come a vet, Rothwell found an opportunity to merge her two passions by taking the reins of The Pet Depot in ‘Ewa Beach and serving pets and their owners in the community.
Rothwell was working at The Pet Depot when she learned about the opportunity to own the store.
“The people who started the store, who also owned the ‘Ewa Beach Animal Hospi- tal, wanted to move back to the mainland and raise their family,” says Rothwell.
Born and raised in the islands, Rothwell and her ‘ohana knew that Hawai‘i was their home and they weren’t planning to move anywhere.
“So, we as a family really took a leap of faith and purchased the store in May 2004,” she says.
