t’s no secret that West O‘ahu neighbor- hoods are booming with fireworks every New Year’s Eve. That’s why Hawaiian
Humane Society, which is currently building its second location in ‘Ewa Beach, encourages owners to keep the following tips in mind to ensure their pets have a nice holiday, too.
• Keep pets in a safe place indoors, and leave a radio or television on at normal volume.
• Ensure that the animals have proper iden- tification, such as a microchip and collar with a tag that includes a current phone number. To check if the correct contact information is reg- istered with the chip, visit foundanimals.org.
• If a pet is found, take them to Hawaiian Humane Society’s Admissions Center, located at 2700 Wai‘alae Ave. On the other hand, if an animal becomes lost, file a lost pet report by calling 808-356-2228 or visiting Hawaiian Hu- mane Society’s website.
• On New Year’s Eve, be sure that the pet gets a lot of exercise during the day to tire them out before the long night ahead.
