Happy Thanksgiv- ing from our West O‘ahu Voice ‘ohana to yours ... Hawai‘i Commu- nity Foundation honored five local nonprofit leaders with a Ho‘okele Award, along with $10,000 each. Residents of the commu- nity serve the area in many ways, including conducting cleanups, feeding and cloth- ing others at houseless en- campments, and distributing back-to-school supplies to both houseless and housed families in need. Meanwhile, Darryl Vincent, chief oper- ating officer of U.S.VETS, was also recognized for his work with the organization that provides support for homeless veterans. Vincent now oversees overall opera- tions of U.S.VETS national- ly, but previously led the ex- pansion of Barbers Point and Wai‘anae locations.“These hardworking and inspiring in- dividuals have devoted years of service to our communi- ties,” states Micah Kāne, CEOandpresidentofHawai‘i Community Foundation. “All of our awardees deserve rec-
