First Lady Jill Biden Visits Waipahu High School Vaccine Clinic
Hawai‘i Pacific Health’s COVID-19 Vax Squad Bus made its return to Waipahu High School July 25, and had a special visitor — the first lady of the United States, Jill Biden (right). She came to check out the operation as part of her nationwide effort to encourage vaccinations. According to HPH, Biden was particularly interested in this endeavor because of the hospital’s partnership with the state Department of Education, during which Waipahu High graduates of HPH’s Medical Assistant Program provided support at the clinic, including administering the vaccine. Pictured (below) is Carl Hinson, director of Workforce Development for Hawai‘i Pacific Health, with current medical assistants and recent graduates who will be taking their national certification exam soon.
