ith the fall semester just around the corner, The Salvation Army is asking the community to donate
school supplies for students across the state. Here on the Westside, residents can stop by The Salvation Army Kroc Center, located at 91-3257 Kualakaʻi Pkwy., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Requested items in- clude backpacks, colored markers and pencils, composition notebooks, crayons, erasers, facial tissues, glue, highlighters, paper towels, pen- cils, pencil pouches, pens (black, blue and red),
rulers, scissors, small calculators and more. Monetary donations are also being accepted
to schoolsupplyhawaii.org.
“We encourage our island communities to
step up and help our keiki in need as families begin preparations for the upcoming 2021-22 school year,” states Maj. Phil Lum, divisional commander of The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands. “The cost of many items on traditional back-to-school lists can be out of reach for many families, and our goal is to help make sure each keiki has the supplies they need to succeed.”
