“This will be the first NextGen medical building in Hawai‘i, equipped with some of the most innovative and advanced health care technology — including digital dashboards throughout the facility — designed to enhance the patient’s care experience,” he adds.
“The Health Hub care model will better integrate care into our members’ lives,” shares Yang. “The technology helps maximize members’ visits, evolves in response to their changing health care needs, supports care team collaboration and contributes to im- proving quality of care for our members.”
At nearly three times larger than its office on Farrington High- way, West O‘ahu Medical Office at Kapolei will feature more than 30 exam rooms, 28 provider offices and three imaging rooms in a spacious environment that’s intended for healing, education and much more.
“Health is more than just medical care. At Kaiser Permanente, we treat our members’ total health — physical, mental and social,” says Yang. “And, West O‘ahu Medical Office at Kapolei will offer services for all three. An important part of addressing social and

cultural health includes making connections with others in your community. Our community engagement center will be a hub for West O‘ahu residents to gather for classes, programs and events.
“Cultural health is important to us because it contributes to better overall health and wellness,” he continues. “We like to call this new medical office ‘kīpukaoha,’ which is a combination of two Hawaiian words: kīpuka refers to an area of untouched land surrounded by lava flows; and oha means flourishing growth. We hope residents will view the new West O‘ahu Medical Office at Ka- polei as an oasis for health, wellness and community.”
“Never did we expect that we would have to construct this new facility in the middle of a worldwide pandemic,” says Chris- tian. “We’re incredibly grateful to all of our partners for their ded- ication, commitment to safety and continued hard work as we all navigated through uncertainty. All of the ups and downs from the past year makes this opening even sweeter, and we cannot wait to welcome our first patients to West O‘ahu Medical Office at Kapolei.”
