Avatar: The Way of Water has taken the No. 1 spot on the list of the highest-grossing movies of 2022. (Top Gun: Maverick is No. 2.) While it’s certainly a cause for celebration, this isn’t new territory for director James Cameron, who has two films (Avatar, Titanic) in the top-five highest-grossing fifilms of all time. Playing Ronal, co-leader of a Na’vi water tribe, is this rosy actress who famously
worked with Cameron in ’97.
Book Club (2018) returns with its sequel, Book Club: The Next Chapter, set to release in theaters May 12. The audience will go along on an adventure with four gal pals as they take their book club over- seas to Italy. Chaos ensues, secrets are revealed and their peaceful vacation turns into a once-in-a- lifetime cross-country escapade. It stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and this actress who often plays maternal figure roles, as seen in films Step Brothers, The Proposal and Elf.
John Cena and Jason Momoa are taking their co-starring together one step further. In addition to shooting the $340 million action comedy Killer Vacation, which is slated to be released in May, the duo can also be seen in the first part of the Fast & Furious fran- chise’s Fast X movie. Also starring in the film is Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Brie Larson and
this actress who appeared in Blue Crush and Lost — both of which were filmed in Hawai‘i.
Twenty-one years ago this week, the teen drama Save the Last Dance hit theaters to mixed re- views but was a box office hit, grossing nearly $131 million. It starred Julia Stiles as a promising dancer from Chicago whose dream is shattered by rejection and tragedy. She eventually finds love and redemption with the help of her boyfriend, played by Sean Patrick Thomas. Which actress played her best friend? Hint: She later went on to play Olivia Pope in a hit TV drama.

According to some research, most people give up on their New Year’s reso- lutions about two weeks in. The fact that it falls on Friday the 13th this year doesn’t help. But don’t despair — this day isn’t meant to be discouraging. Quite the opposite: It’s a reminder that accomplishing a goal takes time and it’s OK to reassess, revise and try again.
