   28 MIDWEEK DECEMBER 7, 2022
     Book Pick Of The Week
I’m one of the few people I know who hasn’t watched Bridgerton on Netflix. And it’s not that I don’t want to. But I
am waiting until I can get through the Bridgerton book series authored by Julia Quinn fifirst. I fifinally fifinished the initial
installment, The Duke and I, and am well into The Viscount Who Loved Me. I don’t do it this
way because I always think the books are better (though most often they are). Rather, I prefer
thinking of how the characters and settings look in my imagination first. If I watch the
movie or TV show before I read the book, my mind is
predisposed to what someone else has already created.
Netflix’s Bridgerton season three is likely coming out
next year (I read rumors it will be in the spring), so I’m
hoping to have all the books read by then. If I read a couple of
books a month until the eighth and final novel, I should be done just in time!

A Poll On The Best Place To Stroll
I ’ ve written about walk- ing before — one of my favorite hobbies — and
for me to walk 10,000 steps a day. It’s not a cure-all by any means, but it’s not like I can hit the goal doing my day-to- day responsibilities, so I have togooutofmywaytoreach the mark.
due to recent changes in my health, I’m walking more than ever!
While I take brief walking breaks at work (my eyes that are glued to a computer/phone screen thank me), I really rack up my steps in the early morn- ing and after the sun has set.
Brisk walking is better on my knees than running, and my doctor says there are nu- merous benefits when the ac- tivity is part of a weekly rou- tine. Medical sites like Mayo Clinic and Harvard Health cite plenty of advantages to walk- ing, including improved mood and sleep habits, weight man- agement, good heart health, reduced stress and more — all things I’m in need of.
Those long walks are also great because it gives my hus- band and me time to unwind and enjoy each other’s compa- ny. We have our go-to routes, including our recent favorite: Magic Island. It has a fantas- tic lighted walking path with tons of parking and groups

of scenery every so often. We’ve also been searching for places to stroll when the weather outside is less than ideal. I’ve heard walking around Pearlridge Center or another covered mall is the perfect substitute but have yet to try it.
I’d love to hear where you enjoy walking and what health benefits you’ ve seen. (And share eating places in the area, too, because enjoy- ing a good meal is another one of my favorite hobbies.)
